In a college full of amazing educators, it was a true honor to receive the Auburn University Harbert College of Business Teaching Award. Teaching advanced personal means that my students are mostly seniors looking for that first job after college. Because I could not find a job after college to save my life, helping students navigate this transition has become my overarching goal as an educator. So I start each semester by asking, "Who does not have a job lined up after graduation?" and follow it up with, "We have four months together to make it happen." Not only does this help me focus each lesson on the same objective, students become invested in their classmates, actively checking in on each other throughout the semester. I've never witnessed anything like it. Auburn University is a pretty special place and I'm proud to be here.

In September 2022, The New Yorker published my letter in response to Tad Friend's story about Sam Taggart and door-to-door selling. Read that article HERE. A career in professional sales comes with challenges and opportunities, and I'm sure my fellow sales colleagues can relate to the need to overcome negative stereotypes. I'm happy to be a part of the conversation. For other op-eds, please see the Making News tab.
